It's Cold Outside! Warm Your Heart With These Verses About God's Love for You
/Happy February, ladies! I don’t know about you, but I love the month of love! At a time when we’re still being battered by winter’s icy paw, Valentine’s brings so many cozy, good feelings. I love the warm pinks and reds, the decadent chocolates, the cheerful flowers…
I love that the days are growing longer, and after months of weak winter sun, I can actually feel a bit of heat shining through my windows!
I love the celebration not just of romantic love but of love in general: the love of friends, family, and most importantly, the love of God.
In honor of the Creator of all things love, I’ve collected 11 of my favorite verses about God’s love. (Shout out to my friend Monika who suggested a few of these, particularly the verses in the Passion Translation—so good!) Whether you get the warm cozies in February or not, I hope these words of truth sink into your heart and fill you with a new experience of God’s infinite tenderness for you.
And check out my pretty printable version of these verses at the end of this post! Print it off, put it on your fridge, and remind yourself daily of God’s love for you!
1. God celebrates you with songs:
“For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs." Zephaniah 3:17 NLT
2. He loves you with the same tenderness a mother or father feels for their child:
“See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1 NLT
3. He seeks you out. You are sought after and wanted:
“For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search and find my sheep. I will be like a shepherd looking for his scattered flock. I will find my sheep and rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day.” Ezekiel 34:11-12 NLT
4. God’s love for you is beyond what you can imagine, and He wants you to actually feel it!:
“May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love; and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last you will be filled up with God himself.” Ephesians 3:17-19 TLB
5. God pays attention to you:
"See, I care about you, and I will pay attention to you." Ezekiel 36:9 NLT
6. God cherishes you constantly:
“You’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. With your hand of love upon my life, you impart a blessing to me.
Every single moment you are thinking of me! How precious and wonderful to consider that you cherish me constantly in your every thought! O God, your desires toward me are more than the grains of sand on every shore! When I awake each morning, you’re still with me.” Psalm 139:5, 17-18 TPT
7. His love brings you rest:
"The Lord is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace, the quiet brook of bliss.” Psalm 23:1-2 TPT
8. Nothing can hold back God’s love for you:
“For I know that nothing can keep us from the love of God. Death cannot! Life cannot! Angels cannot! Leaders cannot! Any other power cannot! Hard things now or in the future cannot! The world above or the world below cannot! Any other living thing cannot keep us away from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39 NLV
9. He is compassionate toward you and His love for you never fails:
“But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.” Psalm 86:15 NLT
10. His love protects you:
“For you bless the godly, O Lord; you surround them with your shield of love.” Psalm 5:12 NLT
11. God showers you with His love:
“Yet day by day the Lord also pours out his steadfast love upon me.” Psalm 42:8 NLT
