All Things Beautiful in His Time: Hope in Seasons of Waiting

Due to an unusually cold, snowy April and May, summer in Fairbanks got off to a late start this year.

This, in turn, has led to just about everything in my yard blooming later than usual—my chokecherry trees, the lilacs, the peonies, even the dandelions—all have bloomed up to two weeks later than usual.

But, late though they have been, all my plants and bushes have indeed produced blossoms, and as I’ve savored them these last few weeks, this phrase keeps running through my mind: Late blossoms are just as beautiful as “on-time” blossoms.

In fact, in some ways, late blossoms might even be more beautiful because we often have a greater appreciation for things we’ve had to wait for.

FEELING STUCK

How about you, friend? Perhaps the climate you live in is meeting average summer-time milestones just fine, but maybe you’re in a difficult season spiritually, emotionally, or relationally.

Maybe it feels like your circumstances will never change and that you’ll be forever stuck in a “winter” season of buried dreams and frozen plans.

Whether you’re waiting for a shift in your job, family, or living situation, I want to encourage you: Your new season will come, and it will be beautiful.

BEAUTIFUL IN HIS TIME

The Bible says that God makes all things beautiful in His time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). So if it’s not beautiful, it’s not the end.

Hold on to the hope we have in Jesus, the Author and Perfector of Our Faith, the One Who shed His precious blood to bring us shalom. This wonderful Hebrew word can be translated as:

• completeness

• contentment

• health

• peace

• peace in human relationships

• peace with God, especially in covenant relationship

• peace from war

• prosperity

• quiet

• safety

• soundness in body

• tranquility

• welfare

and it is God’s desire to bring shalom to every part of our lives. I pray that today, you experience a fresh infusion of His peace, grace, and hope. Your time is coming, and bright days are ahead!

As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I’d love to hear from you! You can contact me here or through the comment section below!
