A Simple (and Fun!) Way to Grow Your Faith

In her book, Emotional Endurance, Leslie Bosserman introduces a team-building exercise she calls “Two Truths and a Dream”—a fun twist on the classic “Two Truths and a Lie” game.
I love this approach to the game for three reasons:
1) Dreaming is better than lying!
2) Dreaming is just fun! I’ve always been a dreamer at heart and love to think about future possibilities and what could someday be.
And
3) Dreaming is one of the best ways to grow your faith muscles.
How so?
Well, dreaming is an act of faith because it testifies to our belief that NOTHING is impossible with God.
It declares that we trust that God really can and will do beyond our highest prayers, thoughts, and hopes (see Ephesians 3:20 TLB).
And it highlights the fact that God is powerful and that God is good.
One of my crazy dreams? To own the big house just up the hill from mine and use it to host writing workshops, worship events, and retreats.
Friend, this house recently sold, and I saw the listed price…Let's just say it would be an act of God if my husband and I ever purchased the home.
But even though I think it’s unlikely that I'll ever own that house, I like to entertain the idea simply to stretch my faith muscles.
What’s one of your big dreams?
I encourage you to think of something that you would love to see happen but seems basically impossible. Then, instead of brushing it off (as we so often do), every time it comes to mind, simply make this statement of faith: God, this seems crazy, but I believe that, with you, it's possible!
Not every dream is from God, and we must always be seeking God’s guidance and submitting ourselves to him. But I am absolutely convinced he does want us to dream, and even if it’s an outrageous dream, just confessing that it is possible with God is a fantastic way to express our faith in him and open ourselves up to the reality that it could happen.
You never know what he might bring to pass in your life when you simply believe it’s possible!
As always, I’m praying for you and cheering you on, and if you have a prayer request or a question about purpose/calling, I’d love to hear from you!
