Are You Feeling The Call To Something More But Afraid To Say Yes?

In a journal entry dated December 27, 2008, I asked myself this:

“Are you willing to accept the commission—the invitation? Or will you choose to live in quiet mediocrity—where it’s so safe and comfortable? Will you be brave and courageous?”

I went on to describe the longing for something more that had haunted me since childhood.

Then I wrote, “There’s something unique set in you—you want to deny it, you ignore it—it seems both too good to be true and too terrifyingly full of responsibility and action.”

YOU HAVE A GIFT THAT MATTERS

I wanted to share this with you because maybe you’re in the same place I was twelve years ago: Feeling the call to something more, but afraid of what it might mean, terrified of what might be required of you.

And maybe you need to hear what I needed to hear: There’s something unique set in you.

You might be trying to deny it, or ignore it, but it’s there, and it matters.

The question is, will you look your fears in the face and decide to be courageous? Will you do that thing your heart is longing to do, even when it doesn’t make sense? Even when it requires sacrifice and diligence and hard decisions?

JUST SAY YES

I know how difficult it can be to push past the fear of the unknown and the mental templates that declare It’s not possible . . . There’s no point . . .  It's too much . . .

But here’s the good news: All you have to do is be willing to say yes to the call today. Say yes, and just keep saying yes, day by day. Don’t worry about tomorrow, just focus on the thing God is prompting you to do right now.

As scary as saying yes can be, it does tend to get easier. Each yes to God is an act of trust, declaring: I will follow You because You are good, and You know best. And every act of trust is an opportunity to see God come through. When He does, our faith is strengthened, making it a little less scary to surrender the next time around.

As author John Bevere likes to say, you were created on purpose for a purpose! God planted something special within you that we need and only you can offer. I pray you are filled with courage, hope, and joy as you move forward in all God is calling you to!

You are in my thoughts and prayers, and I’d love to hear your questions, thoughts, or prayer requests! Just hit reply!

In purpose and faith,
