How Our Emotions Help Us Move Forward in Faith and Purpose

Our culture often distrusts emotions—we tend to look down on people who are “emotional” or who base decisions on how they feel. Being guided by logic is touted as the more responsible and realistic way to move through life.

But, as we seek to grow closer to God and move forward in our purpose, what if our emotions are just as important as our minds?

I recently had the honor of chatting with my dear friend Aimée Walker for The Devoted Podcast, and we talked all about emotions, how they pertain to our relationship with God, and how being honest about my emotions played a key role in me realizing that God was calling me to write.

We also talked about

  • Understanding our emotions as a gift

  • Trusting God with our feelings

  • Submitting our feelings to God’s truth

You can listen to the whole conversation here.

After you listen, I’d love to hear your thoughts and/or your own experiences with your emotions and your relationship with God or moving forward in your purpose!

Also, if you're looking for some simple steps you can take to process your emotions, check out this blog post I wrote that includes four steps to help us tend to our hearts.

As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I’d love to hear from you! You can contact me here!
