How Your Little Can Make a Big Difference, Getting Creative When Making Time for God, a Giveaway, Moose, and More!
/Happy last day of October!
As you know (unless you're new to my online community—in which case, welcome!), at the close of every month, I share a few of my favorite listens, reads, and resources.
As we move into November, I hope these resources encourage and inspire you as you pursue a life of purpose, joy, and intimacy with God!
As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I’d love to hear from you! You can contact me here or through the comment section below!
In purpose and faith,
Finding Joy in Everyday Life...
Before we get to the resources, here are a couple of things that brought me joy this month!
Winter has arrived in Fairbanks, and the cold weather has brought some visitors! This mama and baby have been hanging around our place, and one day they spend almost all day foraging and resting in the yard. Though we see moose fairly often, they never cease to inspire awe and I feel blessed to enjoy their beauty!
Check out this Instagram post to see a video of them in action!
Mama moose peering into our window!
A few days ago, my nephew and I enjoyed the first sled run of the season!
What brought you joy this past month? I'd love to hear about it!
Resources to Inspire, Encourage, and Equip
I've been reading...
A Little Goes a Long Way by Rachael Adams
“A significant life is more simple than you think.
In a culture where bigger is seen as better, it’s easy to wonder if your quick prayer between errands or the short note you text a friend means anything in God's kingdom.
Contrary to how you may feel, every little thing you do can go a long way in God's hands.”
—from Rachael Adams's devotional, A Little Goes a Long Way
My friend Rachael Adams’s beautiful devotional titled A Little Goes a Long Way was just released! I had the honor of getting to play a small role with the book by helping her with some editing behind the scenes, so I’ve read every devotion, and every single one is so good!!
Rachael has such a gift for sharing heartfelt, relatable, everyday stories and then tying them into profound yet easily-accessible biblical truth. She has a warm, genuine style, and reading her work is always so encouraging.
If you wonder if your everyday acts of service matter…
If you feel like you have a minor role in God’s Kingdom…
If you want encouragement as well as practical ideas for making a difference in the lives around you…you will love this devotional!
You can learn more and purchase your own copy here.
You can also get 7 free awesome bonuses, including a Conversation Guide, a Guided Journal, a Task Tracker, and more when you tap here.

"The Praying Example of Susanna Wesley" by Jackie Green and Lauren Green-McAfee
I really enjoyed this article about Susanna Wesley, mother of John Wesley, whose preaching helped ignite the Great Awakening in the 1700s. Her story is so inspiring and convicting for me, and it goes to show that sometimes we have to get creative and not give up when it comes to spending time with God, no matter how challenging our circumstances are. You can read the article here.
For Fun!

“A Brief History of House Cats” by David Zax
Wonder how cats came to live in houses with humans? This article explains it all.
One sentence that particularly delighted me: "We think what happened is that the cats sort of domesticated themselves." Leave it to cats to domesticate themselves—after all, every cat owner knows you can’t make a cat do anything it doesn’t want to do!
You can read the whole story here.
I've been listening...
"Standing In Miracles” (Acoustic) - Emmy Rose, Bethel Music
Christmas is Coming!
It’s hard to believe, but Christmas is just around the corner!
If you’re starting to think about looking for an Advent devotional to enjoy on your own, with your family, or with a group of friends, may I suggest my devotional, Illuminating Jesus: Reflections on Jesus for Each Week of December?
The devotional contains four devotions, one for each week of December:
⭐ Week one explores Jesus as our Incarnate Creator and the gift of creativity.
⭐ Week two explores Jesus as the Fulfillment of the Promise and the gift of joy.
⭐ Week three explores Jesus as the Light and the gift of peace.
⭐ Week four explores Jesus as Immanuel and the gift of help.
It comes as an e-book for those who love to read, and I also created an audio version for those who prefer to listen.
You can learn more about the e-book devotional here and you can find the audio/e-book bundle here.

...Is it time to say goodbye to something in your life? Leaving can be hard because it can feel like losing—and sometimes it does come with a loss.
But so often what we let go of is vastly outweighed by what we gain when we open our hands in trust...
