Pursuing God, 5 Things to Do When You’re Not Sure Where God is Leading, and Other Resources

Happy July!

As you know (unless you're new to my online community—in which case, welcome!), at the close of every month, I share a few of my favorite listens, reads, and resources.

I'm clearly a little late this time around (June was absolutely crazy with some household renovations we were working on), but I still wanted to get these resources out to you. I hope they encourage and inspire you as you pursue a life of purpose, joy, and intimacy with God!

As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I’d love to hear from you! You can contact me here or through the comment section below!

❤️ In purpose and faith,

Finding Joy in Everyday Life...

Before we get to the resources, here are a couple of things that brought me joy this month!

It's summer in Alaska, and that means endless sunshine! I absolutely love our 24/7 daylight, and I think it gives us a tiny glimpse into what it will be like in Heaven, where there will be no more darkness and we will live forever in Jesus' light. You can read some of my solstice thoughts at this post on Instagram.

My cats are happy that it's summer too! We don't let them roam free (for fear of foxes, dogs, and cars), but I try to get them out in their harnesses on a regular basis.

Summer also means LOTS of mosquitoes! And usually, lots of mosquitoes means spending time in the woods is unbearable, but this year, I found a way to thwart them with a pop-up screen tent. I love my tent SO much!

I feel so much peace in the woods, and it's one of my favorite ways to spend time with God, so I'm so thankful that I can still enjoy the outdoors, even during our mosquito-infested months!

Also, I'm loving all the summer wildflowers!

What brought you joy this month? I'd love to hear about it!

Resources to Inspire and Encourage

I've been reading...

"Asking God for Wisdom: How to Make Decisions When it Feels Like No Answers Are Coming" by Cathy McIntosh

In this article, my fellow Joyful Life writer Cathy McIntosh shares 5 things to do when you have an important decision to make, yet despite asking God for direction, you can't clearly discern His leading.

I love her heartfelt story and her hard-won wisdom--particularly what she has to say about worshiping God and paying attention to our feelings.

Here's a little snippet:

"Worship can connect us with the Holy Spirit and remind us of God’s truth and power in our life. It takes our focus off of our struggle and places it squarely on the One who can help us in times of need. It is also a weapon that establishes a path to God’s victory."

I've been watching...

"A Key to Chasing God" by Patricia King

Our ultimate purpose is simply enjoying Jesus. Nothing—no career, goal, or ministry—matters more than developing intimacy with Him, and I just love the encouragement Patricia King shares in this video about chasing after God.

I've been listening...

"Wonderfully Made" by Ellie Holcomb

I just love this beautiful reflection on Psalm 139! May you feel God's delight in you as you listen.
