Trusting God for Daily Provision, Why You Should Stop Doing Things for God, a Rare Bird, and More!
/Happy last day of March!
As you know (unless you're new to my online community—in which case, welcome!), at the close of every month, I share a few of my favorite listens, reads, and resources.
As we move into April, I hope these resources encourage and inspire you as you pursue a life of purpose, joy, and intimacy with God!
As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I’d love to hear from you! You can contact me here or through the comment section below!
In purpose and faith,
Finding Joy in Everyday Life...
Before we get to the resources, here are a few things that brought me joy this month!
I know I shared a boreal owl photo last month, but about a week ago we had a Great Gray Owl visit and I just had to share her too!
These reclusive birds are rare to see, and this is only the second time in my life I’ve seen one. Our friends who are avid bird watchers (and who came to take a look at our visitor) told us that if they were to post the location of this owl on their local bird-watching site we’d have had people lining up to see it.
This big beauty spent an entire day in our yard (I saw her catch four voles!) and returned for shorter periods two more days in a row before moving on. It’s always such a blessing to see God’s wonderful creatures!
P.S. Check out this Instagram post to see a video of the owl in action!
It’s starting to feel like spring in Fairbanks!
Okay, so it’s just a very small hint of spring—but still exciting! The days are growing longer and even though we’re still getting snow here and there and temperatures are hovering around freezing, we’ve had a few days where the roof has started dripping. I’m looking forward to full-blown spring sometime in the next few weeks!
What brought you joy this past month? I'd love to hear about it!
Resources to Inspire, Encourage, and Equip
I've been reading...
“Trusting God for Daily Provision” by Ashley Moore
Do you feel God calling you to step out in faith, yet you feel hesitant because you’re not sure where the necessary resources will come from?
In this encouraging devotion, my friend Ashley Moore asks: “What would it look like to live as though we believe that God will give us our daily bread?” As she unpacks this question, she shares several of her own stepping-out-in faith experiences as well as biblical wisdom that can help us trust God and act courageously.
You can read the devotion here.
I’ve also been reading…
Do the Thing by Rebecca George
“Whether it’s sewing, baking, cleaning, or couponing, your interests and passions can be considered sacred work, especially when you use your talents not to gain praise from others but to shout praises in adoration of the King.”
—Rebecca George
As a member of the BlogAbout Blogger Network, I had the opportunity to receive an advance reader copy of Do the Thing by Rebecca George, which I’ve been enjoying working my way through.
This book is all about embracing the gifts God has given you and moving forward in using them for God’s glory.
Rebecca shares helpful tips on pinpointing “your thing,” knowing when the time is right to end a commitment, collaborating with others, and more. You can learn more here.
P.S. In exchange for an advance reader copy, I agreed to run a giveaway for this book, so look out for more info about that coming in a few weeks!
I've been watching...
“Why You Should Stop Doing Things For God” by Matt Tommey
In this episode, Matt Tommey shares the difference between working as a slave for God and living as a son or daughter who co-labors with God. It’s a great word!
This video is short and sweet at just 5 minutes long, and you can watch it here.
(I realize that right before this I shared about a book called Do the Thing…now I’m sharing a video that’s about not doing things… 😆 But there is a right way and a wrong way to do the thing, and Matt Tommey does a good job of explaining that!)
I've been listening...

...Is it time to say goodbye to something in your life? Leaving can be hard because it can feel like losing—and sometimes it does come with a loss.
But so often what we let go of is vastly outweighed by what we gain when we open our hands in trust...
