He Carried All Our Pain, All at Once
/I went to the dentist on Tuesday, and to my dismay, during my exam, the dentist discovered a small cavity. They didn’t want me to wait too long to get it fixed, so I made an appointment to return Thursday (yesterday) to have it taken care of.
All day Wednesday and all yesterday morning, I was dreading going in for my filling. Having your tooth drilled—even when it’s numb—is not fun. And, because of a past experience, I had this fear that the anesthetic wouldn’t be enough and that I might feel pain.⠀
⠀
Well, in the end, all went well. It only took the dentist about fifteen minutes for the actual filling, and I didn’t feel a thing.⠀
⠀
But I was thinking about it this morning. Thinking about the dread I felt at just the thought of potential pain. Even though I knew the chances were slim that I’d feel any pain, I was still scared.⠀
⠀
And then I thought about Jesus, going to the cross. With no anesthetic.⠀
⠀
I can hardly handle modern dental care with a near guarantee of no pain, while Jesus accepted every form of pain known to humankind. He suffered for us physically, mentally, and emotionally. He carried ALL our pain, all at once.
And He underwent it willingly! For me. And for you!
I just feel so thankful for His love and His goodness to us. It is truly beyond comprehension.
As we head into Easter weekend, I pray you experience an outpouring us His love like you’ve never experienced it before. I pray for fresh revelations of what He accomplished on the cross and the freedom His precious blood bought for us. And I pray our hearts are filled with joy as we celebrate His resurrection power—the same power that is working in us today!

...Is it time to say goodbye to something in your life? Leaving can be hard because it can feel like losing—and sometimes it does come with a loss.
But so often what we let go of is vastly outweighed by what we gain when we open our hands in trust...
