Happy last day of April!

As we move into May, I hope these resources encourage and inspire you as you pursue a life of purpose, joy, and intimacy with God!

As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I’d love to hear from you! You can contact me here or through the comment section below!

Finding Joy in Everyday Life...

Before we get to the resources, here are a few things that brought me joy this month!

I celebrated my 38th birthday! 🥳

38 is kind of a fun milestone because it means

👰🏻‍ I’ve been married for half of my life (I was 19 when we said “I do.”).

👩🏻‍🎓 It’s been 20 years since I graduated from high school (how?!).

📝 It’s been almost 8 years since God launched me into this writing journey.

I’m so thankful for everything God has done in my life so far, and I’m excited about what He has in store for the next season!

We have finally turned a corner weather-wise in Fairbanks! It’s been in the 40s the last few days, the snow is melting, and migratory birds are returning!

My favorite seasonal visitors are Canada geese, and we get to enjoy watching big flocks of them at our local bird refuge.

What brought you joy this past month? I'd love to hear about it!

Resources to Inspire, Encourage, and Equip

I've been reading...

Starving Our Scarcity Mindset by Lysa TerKeurst

“We have a choice to make. We can look out and see the unlimited, abundant opportunities God has placed before us. To create. To write. To try. To grow. To serve. To sing. To be and become. To harvest for Him.

Or we can stare at another person’s opportunity and get entangled in the enemy’s lie that everything is scarce. Scarce thinking. Scarce supply. Scarce possibilities. And we start seeing another person's creations as a threat to our own opportunities.” —Lysa TerKeurst

Have you ever wondered if there is really a need for that thing you feel God calling you to do? If so, I can relate—and so can Lysa TerKeurst!

In this devotion, she shares her own experiences overcoming a scarcity mindset when it came to her calling as a writer, and she shares encouragement for those of us who might struggle in the same way, whether we’re called to be writers, teachers, or engineers.

You can read the full devotion here.

I’ve also been reading…

The Powerful Purpose of Introverts by Holly Gerth

  • “I cannot give the world what it gets from extroverts. But that’s okay because I can provide something else that the world needs.”

  • “It’s okay to head home from the holiday dinner when you’re ready.”

  • “We’re not slow thinkers, we’re deep thinkers.”

  • “It’s tempting to believe the myth that time alone is a luxury, but it’s a necessity.”

Just a few of my favorite quotes from The Powerful Purpose of Introverts by Holly Gerth.

In this book, Gerth explains what it really means to be an introvert, describes the unique ways introverts’ brains are wired and how they differ from extroverts’ brains, and offers helpful tips on caring for your introverted body and soul.

I’ve read quite a bit about introverts over the years, so I was familiar with a fair amount of what Holly shares. But I still learned some new things, and I really appreciated the reminder that God made me an introvert for a reason—and that, even though we don’t often fit the expectations of standard American culture,  we quiet, sensitive souls have lots of wonderful things to offer.

If you’re an introvert who struggles to embrace your personality (it can be hard when living in an extrovert-dominate culture like the US!) or you love someone who is an introvert and want to understand them better (I promise it will strengthen your relationship!) I recommend this book! You can learn more here.
