Facing an Obstacle That Looks Impossible to Overcome?
/Has God given you a mission but you're not sure how you'll accomplish certain aspects of what He's calling you to do?
Today, I'm sharing a devotion I wrote for The Joyful Life that I hope will encourage you as you pursue all God has in store for you—no matter how impossible it seems. You can read the full devotion below.
As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I’d love to hear from you! You can contact me here!
In purpose and faith,
Who Will Close the Door?
Surrounded by a cacophony of animal calls, the flutter of feathers, and the crush of furry bodies, Noah surveyed the interior of his ark. The wooden walls were tightly sealed with pitch, containers overflowed with food, and his family was getting settled in their new quarters. Noah had followed God’s instructions to the last detail. There was just one thing left undone: The door to the ark remained open.
God entrusted Noah with the task of preserving a remnant of humanity and animals to repopulate the earth after the flood, but there was only so far Noah could take the mission on his own. He could build the ark, but he couldn’t close the door.
I wonder how Noah felt as he looked at that door. Did he fear the impending flood would arrive before he could find a way to seal it? Or did he serenely trust God for a solution? Whether he looked at the door filled with tension or tranquility, he soon witnessed God’s faithfulness to complete what He starts. After Noah, his family, and all the animals were aboard, and just before the rain began to fall, we read in Genesis 7:16 (NLT) that “the Lord closed the door behind them.”
Has God given you a mission? Perhaps you’ve felt the call to write a book, homeschool your children, build a house, launch a business, or play on a worship team. Do you wonder how you will ever accomplish certain aspects of your call?
Like Noah, there’s only so far we can take our missions in our own strength and abilities. But, also like Noah, God will be faithful to help us complete any assignment He gives us.
Whatever your calling, dream, or mission is, remember: It’s not all up to you to make it happen. Yes, we each have a role to play, but ultimately, it’s through God’s supernatural touch, not our striving, that our mission will be accomplished and lives transformed.
P.S. Looks like you’re interested in pursuing a life of purpose and faith!

...Is it time to say goodbye to something in your life? Leaving can be hard because it can feel like losing—and sometimes it does come with a loss.
But so often what we let go of is vastly outweighed by what we gain when we open our hands in trust...
