He Restores My Soul

Last year, I shared here about how I entered 2022 feeling unmotivated and resistant to doing anything that required any kind of mental effort.

I knew I needed a break from work, so I took some time off to rest up and recharge, but even after my vacation, I hadn’t regained my spark. Then, one morning, God prompted me to do something very specific. As I followed His guidance, I got to the root of my lethargy, and I felt Him work a deep restoration in my heart.

JANUARY BLUES

I’ve been thinking about that experience this past week because I've found myself in a similar place this January, albeit on a milder scale. I haven't felt as unmotivated as I did last year, but I have felt a similar sense of sadness and fatigue, a kind of malaise that makes me just want to sit on the couch and lose myself in a box of chocolates and a mystery novel.

While there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a day curled up on the couch with a book, I know that what my soul needs is deeper than what a simple self-care practice can provide—I need God’s supernatural healing in my heart.

GOD RESTORES

So I’m spending time with God and utilizing the practice gave He me last year to work through some unfinished business.

He’s helped me name what’s weighing on me (I’ve found that sometimes simply being able to name what’s causing the issue can bring a huge sense of relief), and I’m continuing to seek His guidance on how to process some emotions related to challenges in my family and community.

God’s been so faithful in the past, so I’m confident that He’ll continue leading me and providing restoration.

ABOUT THAT PRACTICE THAT HELPED ME…

How about you? Are you feeling unmotivated, worn out, or sad? If so, I encourage you to check out the blog post I wrote last year. In it, I explain the practice that made a big difference for me and I think could help you too. You can read the post here.

God has good plans for you, and He wants you to live with purpose and joy, but sometimes to move forward, we have to first process and grieve what we’re leaving behind.

I pray that as you seek God and share your heart with Him, He will reveal what hurts and how to help it heal. And I pray that your vitality is restored and that the joy you find in 2023 will exceed that of years prior!

As always, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and I’d love to hear from you! You can contact me here or through the comment section below.

In purpose and faith,
